Extremely deft film: takes us into the justice machine without disturbing the workings of its gears. I don't agree that it exposes the "joke" or "arrogance" of lawyers or judges--I think that's missing the point of the "job" that each player performs (including the accused)in the working out of "justice", the elements that are factored into a decision and the ones that are not. It's less about the system's short-comings (an easy and naive critique) and more about the "work" (positive or negative) that it does, how we get from one case to "next case, please."
